St. Nikolaus is a day of small gifts, and so, since I have, as a contributor to Artful Blogging, the opportunity to host a giveaway, I’m offering it today and will bestow, on one lucky winner, a copy of the latest issue. Maybe, just maybe, passing on this magazine that really changed my writing career (see My Artful Blogging Story) will do some other wonderful thing for the recipient!
All you have to do is leave, by end of day Friday, December 9, a comment below, sharing what your dream travel destination would be, fitting in with my article “The Accidental Travel Blogger” in that issue.
Mine would be a trip on the Transsiberian railroad, all the way from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok. These days I am on a Russian journey anyway as I have been listening, again, to Nabokov’s Speak, Memory in my car. More about that in my Reading List, which you’re welcome to subscribe to (see sign-up form in right-hand column). His language is so luscious, I find myself swooning more often than I am annoyed by some of his tediousness.
I have another giveaway coming up on December 15 for the new winter issue of Bella Grace as I have an article in that as well. Stay tuned!
My dream travel destination is Norway. Why? When I was in the fifth grade, we each were given a country to study and make a report on. We had to put it together in a booklet form. I learned a great deal about Norway and I have always wanted to visit there ever since completing the project. I have been to many countries but, sadly, not to Norway.
I can't believe with all your travels around Europe, you haven't made it to Norway yet. I visited Oslo as a teen, but I haven't seen the grand fjords farther north and I agree with you, I'd love to see that landscape.
Paris! #1 on my bucket list.
Wait! What? You haven't been to Paris? Definitely No.1 bucket list item!
I think I'd like to take a trip on the Orient Express from London to Venice. Of course we'd stay a bit in Venice and London, but I think two days on the train would be such fun.
It would be, which is why I want to do a week on the Transsiberian Railroad!
I can relate to the idea of wanting to cross Russia, but I think for me, the ideal place I would love to see with my own eyes would be the Himalayas.
Yes, wow, I agree, it would be grand to see the Himalayas! Even more so, to travel around there.
I am not the best traveler but I would love to see Toronto some day.
I used to go there a lot on business and found it similar to Chicago, without the stunning architecture.
I enjoyed your piece in the new issue of Bella Grace, and am looking forward to your new memoir, which I pre-ordered on Amazon. Thanks for sharing your lovely work.
Cindy, thank you so much for preordering my book, I really appreciate it! And I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my piece in the new issue of Bella Grace. It's always a treat to hear from a reader!
