What would fall be without pumpkins? So October’s color is orange.
For the uninitiated, the idea here is to come up with ways to evoke orange without mentioning the color itself because one of the challenges in writing effective descriptions is getting the color just right. Each month on this blog we work on one color, so far we’ve done red, green, pink, blue, and yellow. So help me here to come up with nouns and adjectives that bring orange to mind. Here’s my start:
Halloween candy foil,
I love this idea – what a great project.
Orange crayon? They are usually really bright
How about sherbert and Kool-aid?
Kelly – sunsets are usually orange, right?
The Desert Rocks – how could I have forgotten sweet potatoes? Thanks!
Angela – crayons, well, the thing about them is that they come in all colors under the sun. They're perfect for describing anything colorful.
Barb – Kool-aid, yes! Thanks!
Everything I came up with seemed to be listed here, but here's some more:
pumpkins (can't be ignored)
Brach's mallowcrem pumpkins
sugar maple leaves in fall
Julie – thanks for your great contributions! I love apricot and cheddar! And cheetos, yes, they always leave your fingers orange, don't they?
The Desert Rocks – yes, cantaloupe! Excellent choice, thank you for coming up with that!
seems I am late (as usual)- all the words mentioned above do make the color 'orange' come to mind- liked cantaloupe- good one!! How about Tigger without the stripes 🙂
Okay, had to try this color too:
You guys forgot these:
